IIS6 User Isolation Mode using Active Directory
Technically Rambling By Deji Akomolafe on 1/5/2006
Anywhoooo.... I've come to talk "Isolation", not to dis it. I just ranted so you don't get the wrong impression that I believe that "Isolation" is the next best invention since microwavable lunch :).

I think anything that improves security is a good idea, but I take exception to the "this is gonna solve all our problems now" mentality that is now surrounding "User Isolation"

Disney's Irresponsible Reward System
Social Commentaries By Deji Akomolafe on Thursday, December 29, 2005

So, I subscribed my kids to the new Disney Toon Town online service. In case you are wondering what that is, here's a blurb:

"Toontown is the massively multiplayer Internet game that lets you live the life of a Toon. Create your own Toon character, furnish your estate, play games with friends, and explore amazing lands. The best part is it's always growing, always changing, and as wild as your imagination!"

OK, so it's an online community for Kids to play Kids-theme games. It's all about Kids.

Priceless.....
Social Commentaries By Deji Akomolafe on Monday, December 26, 2005
We made a deal with our son - Lanre. Lanre is one of those indescribable kids every family prays to have. He is indescribable because I'm his dad, and there is no known adjective in the entire English dictionary can describe how much I think of him - well, I could try, but that would appear self-serving, grandiose and vain.

SID Duplication Bug in Virtual Server 2005 R2 "Differencing Virtual Hard Disk" implementation
Technically Rambling By Deji Akomolafe on 12/21/2005
Virtual Server 2005 R2 edition includes a mechanism for reducing the size of files needed to create multiple Guest Operating Systems within Virtual Server. A "Guest", in MS terminology is the virtual environment (machines) that you create within the Virtual Server. The Virtual Server application itself is the "Host".

It works on physical hardware ..... and it works in Virtual Server, too!
Technically Rambling By Deji Akomolafe on 12/20/2005
There have been reports that some configurations that work fine in physical hardware environments are failing to work in virtualized environments. See: http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/default.aspx http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2005/12/18/297.aspx

Die, "Real" sloooooooow, but please die.

The news hit me between the eyes. Microsoft will pay some extra-ordinarily large amount in hush money to make Real drop its blackmail.

How NOT to spend a billion dollars.
Technically Rambling By Deji Akomolafe on 9/13/2005
Ebay is in the business of facilitating auctions (I have a Teddy, do you wanna buy? My wife is having a baby, do you want to buy the rights to name her/him? Here's an authentic African Elephant's ear, dripping blood and all, wanna buy it? that kind of thing), and reaping cupious commissions in the art of doing so. Ebay does it well, having beaten back all the notable competitors. It's a successful business, and it's a growing one because there is no comprehensible/fathomable limits to the business of buy-and-sell. But Skype? Someone please explain it to me.

Bush takes responsibility
Social Commentaries By Deji Akomolafe on Tuesday, September 13, 2005
Loyalty is said to mean a lot to Bush, and loyalty is, indeed, a very laudable thing - but NOT when it puts the Homeland in jeopardy.

Need to do this more often

Still waiting for DNN Blog module to come out of the lab for prime-time. Taking such a long time.....

Found out that Hans-Peter just came out with a newere NewBlog. May have to stick with NewBlog and just forget about the DNN one.

Anywhooo, with all that's been happening lately (Katrina, Vista, Public R2, schedule conflicts regarding Summit, etc), I feel the urge to just write and write.

Still....I'm afraid that it may all be for naught. DNN Blog will come out and it will be better than newBlog and there would be no migration path .... oh well ......
